Lake Cochrane State Park

Located: 10 miles east of Clear Lake off SD Hwy 22
This 90 acres park is between 2 excellent fishing lakes-Cochrane and Oliver. This park features canoeing, swimming, boating, fishing, 30 campsites, dump stations, and a playground.

  • Camping & Fees:  $14/site. 30 sites, all electrical. One wheelchair accessible site. Showers. Water. Dump station.

  • Camping Cabins: One wheelchair accessible cabin, available May 1 to Oct. 1. Sleeps four people. $32/night.

Lake Poinsett State Park

Located: 14 miles NE of Arlington off US Hwy. 81 
Two campgrounds offer 112 sites with two comfort stations in campground one and an additional comfort station in campground two. A number of sites are along the waterfront. Cabin #2 is also features a waterfront view. 

  • Camping & Fees: $10/non-electrical, $14/electrical. 112 sites (108 electrical). One wheelchair accessible site. Four tent-only sites. Showers. Water. Dump station.

  • Camping Cabins: Two camping cabins, one wheelchair accessible. Each sleeps four people. $32/night.

Lake Thompson Recreation Area

Located: 6 miles SW of Lake Preston off US Hwy. 14
The states largest natural lakes covering 18,000 square acres, playground, dump station, and fish cleaning station.

  • Camping & Fees: $10/non-electrical, $14/electrical. 103 campsites (97 electrical). One wheelchair accessible site. Six tent-only sites. Showers. Dump station.

  • Camping Cabins: Four wheelchair accessible camping cabins. Each sleeps four people. $32/night. 

  • Lodge: Five-bedroom lodge. Sleeps 12 people. $175/night. Additional occupants $15 each.

Oakwood Lakes State Park

Located: 7 miles north and 3 miles west of Volga, SD, off US Highway 14. Or, use Exit 140 on I-29 
The park contains over 1,000 acres of public land in the midst of 8 lakes and features canoeing, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking trails, playground, dump station, bridle trail, and a visitor center.

  • Camping & Fees: $10/non-electrical, $14/electrical. 135 sites (130 electric). One accessible site. Five tent-only sites. Showers. Water. Two dump stations.
    Horse Camp: $10/site, no electricity. Ten sites.

  • Camping Cabins: Four cabins, one accessible. Each sleeps four people. $32/night.
